The Second Spring

A 48-week email coaching journey for men in midlife

Something has gone missing. You may not be able to name it precisely — it is more a texture than a thing, a sense that the life you are living has drifted some distance from the life you intended. The career is intact. The obligations are met. And yet.

This is not decline. This is a threshold. Most men either don't recognise it or don't know what to do with it. The Second Spring is for those who are ready to do something with it.

How It Works

One short, focused message arrives in your inbox every Friday. Three questions — specific, considered, calibrated to where you are in the journey. You reply by Monday. A tailored response from me arrives by Tuesday.

No group calls. No shared vulnerability with strangers. No live sessions where you perform insight rather than develop it. Just the work, done in writing, over time, in private.

Writing builds clarity in a way that talking does not. When you have to put something into words on a page, you find out quickly whether you actually understand it. The asynchronous rhythm — question, reflection, response — gives the thinking time to settle before the next step. Many men find this format more powerful than live coaching precisely because of what it removes: the pressure, the performance, the clock.

The Framework

The programme moves through twelve stages, four weeks in each. The framework is grounded in an old idea — the medieval Zodiac Man, which mapped the whole of human experience onto a single figure, nothing excluded. I have mapped that structure onto the terrain of a contemporary life in its second half.

You don't need to find that interesting. You just need to answer the questions honestly.

The Twelve Stages

Finding Your Ground · Identifying Talents · Taking a Step · Choosing a Direction · Selecting an Identity · Balancing Relationships · Crafting Your Core · Leading with Heart · Embracing Action · Creating with Skill · Speaking Your Truth · Renewing Your Vision

Each stage builds on the one before. By the end, you will have covered the ground most men spend their remaining decades circling without ever quite crossing.

Who This Is For

Men in midlife — broadly defined as anywhere from the early forties to the mid-sixties — who are navigating what comes next. You may be still inside a career that no longer fits, or recently out of one. You may have a clear sense of what is wrong and no idea what to do about it, or no clear sense of anything except that something needs to change.

What is required is honesty and the willingness to write. Everything else can be worked with.

This is not for men in acute crisis. If you are in that place, direct support is more appropriate and Talk the Walk may be a better fit.

The Investment

$950, or $160 for six monthly instalments.

Rolling start on the first Friday of every month. Limited to 48 men each year — a constraint that is not decorative.
